Tim Daly is an award winning actor and activist with a long history of using his voice to promote social causes, especially environmentalism, arts advocacy and funding for public arts education.
An actor for more than 40 years, he became a household name for his roles in "Wings", "Private Practice", "The Sopranos", and as the voice of Superman for the animated series. He won national recognition for his role as Billy in Barry Levinson’s iconic 1982 film “Diner”, which is credited with inventing the pop culture infused hangout movie and for paving the way for “Seinfeld” and other modern comedies. He recently starred in “Madam Secretary” with his wife Téa Leoni on CBS, the YouTube web series "The Daly Show” and can be seen in the Netflix series, “Leanne”.
As president of The Creative Coalition, the entertainment industry’s premiere nonpartisan advocacy organization, he was instrumental in the group's efforts to bring arts education and environmentalism to the forefront of presidential campaigns during the 2008, 2016, 2020, and 2024 Democratic and Republican conventions.
Daly’s passion for advocacy and storytelling makes him an inspired lead for “Sacred Ground” as it explores the most urgent environmental challenges of our time. Together, we hope to spark dialogue, inspire action, and spotlight solutions for a changing planet.

In the face of this escalating threat, the producers of “Common Ground with Jane Whitney" present “Sacred Ground with Tim Daly,” an ongoing series on the far-flung but interlocking challenges presented by climate change.
Hosted by actor Tim Daly, a committed climate activist and president of The Creative Coalition, “Sacred Ground” dives into the sweeping complexities that define the issues and shines a light on the people and projects forging solutions in the face of unprecedented challenges.
Each episode explores the profound scientific, social and moral questions before us — while celebrating resilience and innovation through the hopeful and deeply human stories of those leading the way. “Sacred Ground” reveals that, while the obstacles are monumental, our will to overcome them is just as inexorable.
